We all know that equipment sitting in the yard has both hidden and obvious costs. But just exactly how much? Using our AnyQuip rate calculator we’ve determined the Internal Rate of one of our member’s excavators. (a 2008 John Deere 200D LC, with almost 10,000 hours on it)

Our calculator takes into account your cost to purchase, financing and insurance costs, annual repair actuals and major reserve estimates, along with your utilization estimates for the year and total life. From this you arrive at an accurate IR for each piece in your fleet that can help you make decisions across the board in bidding, scheduling and determining rental rates that make sense for your bottom line.

For example, getting an 350 additional hours (approximately a month and a half of work) out of this excavator can lower the IR for this equipment by almost $9 per hour - over the course of a year, this could be a potential lost profit of $11,718.

Topping up utilization through rentals keeps your equipment on budget for both your secured and bid work throughout the year. Try a few different annual utilization estimates in our rate calculator to see exactly how much its costing you.
